  Service – Every Christians Calling No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:15 It is hard at times to tell the difference between the local church and a social church. On many fronts they function much in the same way. But of course, the worship of God is the difference, and that we are to worship Him and Spirit and in Truth. And yet the worship can become stale and lifeless, simply going through the motions of worship. How do we break this cycle? How do we get back to the way church was to be, the worship of God, the glorification of Him and Him alone? It is quite simple and Jesus lays out how we are to do this in John 15:15. Why Church?

  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8   Why do we do Church? What is the purpose of going to church? The best way to answer a question is to tell us what is not doing church. What is not doing church is meeting for an hour on Sunday and getting preach at. What is not doing church is meeting for two hours of obedience training. What is not doing church is dividing into small groups each Sunday to gossip about others. If you are a part of a church that does any or all of these, you are not doing church you are a part of a social club. The only difference between you and the Rotary, Ruritans and the Kiwanis is that your organization puts the word “church” at the end of their name.   This was not the purpose of church as Jesus would establish.
